At DFW FIRE EQUIPMENT, we're a D.O.T. certified testing facility with sophisticated equipment that offers a wide variety of fire extinguisher services ensuring that your fire extinguishers are always in optimal condition.
We service the following extinguishers and fire suppression systems:
Dry Chemical (ABC, BC), Co2, Clean Agent (Halon, Halotron, FE-36, Ecaro, Novec, FM-200), Class K, Water, Co2, and Oxygen cylinders
Annual Inspections|Hydro-static testing|Recharge|Refills| 6-year Maintenance
The only extinguishers we are unable to service are those with plastic valves. Over time, plastic valves can become weak and crack, which can make servicing these types of extinguishers dangerous.
All portable fire extinguishers are required to have an Annual Fire Extinguisher Inspection performed by a state licensed inspector every year. In addition, most fire extinguishers are required to have maintenance performed on them every 6 years from the manufacture date of the extinguisher.
Any time that a fire extinguisher has been partially discharged it needs to be completely recharged.
Please see list below for the exact frequency of service and type of service required for the different type of extinguishers.
Requires internal maintenance every 6 years and a hydro-static test every 12 years from the date the extinguisher was manufactured.

A licensed professional should inspect fire extinguishers at least once a year. We will perform a 13 Point Inspection on each extinguisher and inform you of any deficiencies, which must be fixed before we tag the extinguisher. Some fixes include recharges, refills, six-year maintenance, and hydro-static testing.
The certification tags on your fire extinguishers expire one year from the month and year punched on the tag. Automatic fire suppression systems expire 6 months from the date punched on the system tag. This tag provides proof that your equipment was serviced to code by a certified technician if you are inspected by the fire marshal, your local authority or insurance company.
No, you can save about half the cost by servicing your extinguisher instead of buying a new one. Some extinguishers in stores are disposable and cannot be serviced. You must discard them and get a new one.
The lifespan of extinguishers is usually 10-12 years. They do not have a fixed "expiration date," but they can deteriorate over time and need some corrective actions. These actions may include recharges, refills, six-year maintenance, and hydro-static testing.
YES! Our certified technicians offer service at our location, and walk-ins are welcome. Some services may require your equipment to be left at our facility to be picked up at a future date.
